
Visiting a beautiful Buddhist temple is a must-do activity in Korea. With more than 2,500 years of history, many Korea’s Buddhist temples offer not only religious significance but also history and natural beauties. Many of them are located in mountains so visiting temples often involves a fair bit of hiking.
Gwaneumsa temple, located at the ridge of Mountain Halla is believed to be the oldest temple in Jeju. Recently, the temple is well-known as the extraordinary Woo shooting location.

Yakcheonsa temple in Seogwipo is located near the sea shore. The view from the main Buddha hall is something you shouldn’t miss.

When you are at the east of Jeju, Seonhwasa temple is highly recommended to visit. Surprisingly this beautiful temple is run by a monk and devotees and volunteers. There are many interesting many experience programs but currently they only offer Korean speaking programs

Beophwasa temple site is very quiet place with only small number of visitors. Once extravagant temple with over 280 slaves was forgotten for a couple of hundred years after the burned-down in early 18th century by Jeju governer. The temple was restored in 1980’s partially. The best season to visit Beophwasa temple site is July when hundreds of lotus flowers come out.
